At top speed as is typical of Sonic and with an acceleration worthy of one of his best installments, Sonic X Shadow Generations has surpassed one million units sold worldwide after just a few days of launch. To reach this figure, the units sold on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One consoles and on PC computers through Steam are counted.
It should not be forgotten that Sonic Generations, the game that is adapted in the form of a remake in this title, was one of the great games starring Sonic in the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 generation. In fact, its fame and quality helped bring Sonic back to the forefront and show that Sega still remembers what the Sonic with which it triumphed for the first time was like. For the occasion, not only is the remake of Sonic Generations offered, but Shadow’s own and totally new story is introduced.
Sega is set to make fiscal year 2024 the year of Shadow, so we’re going to see a number of projects in which the character will have a leading role thanks to the Fearless：Year of Shadow initiative. For example, he’ll be present in Sonic Rumble and we’ll also see him in the next film of the franchise.
We’ve been able to play several hours of Sonic X Shadow Generations and we can confirm that the success of the game is fully justified. It’s very fast, has a graphical depth that leaves a very good feeling and Shadow’s story, although simple, starts off with a lot of pace. The hero has exclusive abilities and the possibility of both moving through the air with his wings and shooting, giving the game a very different style from the proposal that can be found in Sonic Generations. It’s true that it was believed that the sales of Sonic X Shadow Generations could be affected by some modifications that Sega has made to the game, mainly in the cinematics, but this is one of those cases in which the game is so good that you inevitably have to forget about everything else and enjoy it.
