The mobile gaming market is one of the most competitive, and it’s common for many titles to close their doors after their release. Lifespans of between one and two years are increasingly being recorded, and even in 2025, some games that were also released in 2025 will be shut down, meaning they won’t even have been available for a year.

For many mobile game fans, it’s sad to see their phones littered with app icons that no longer work. In some cases, developers offer offline versions that at least allow you to finish the story or continue playing in single-player mode. But these are exceptional cases and don’t happen very often.

Today we can say that there are six more games on their way to becoming obsolete and disappearing. The best-known of all is Square Enix’s School Girl Strikers 2, the sequel to one of its once most popular mobile titles. The end of service will occur on September 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Japan time. The company has organized the game’s end in a very professional manner, launching a series of farewell events and sharing a roadmap showing all the activities they have in the works. Fans will be able to get exclusive merchandise and continue enjoying the game until the very last day, especially to complete the story. It must be said that School Girl Strikers 2 was released on April 10, 2014, so it has been available for over 10 years, which is commendable.

At the time, it was a revolution not only for its addictive gameplay and the many characters available, but also because it introduced support for augmented reality technology and even virtual reality. But Square Enix mentions that it would be difficult to continue offering good service if it kept the game available, so it’s time to say goodbye.

Another game set to close is Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Battle Chronicle, which will also end its service on September 29th at 3:00 AM. This RPG based on the series of the same name has been available for a shorter period, as it was originally released in Japan on August 24th, 2023. The good news is that it has been confirmed that the game will have an offline version available starting on September 29th. Users or DanMachi fans who download the offline version will be able to complete the story and continue fighting, although it should be noted that new events will no longer be available.

Meanwhile, on September 30th at 12:00 PM, the game Hypnosis Mic – Dream Rap Battle – will close. This game is part of the Hypnosis Mic universe and features an original story featuring the voices of the main voice actors. Its gameplay consists of rap battles that can be enjoyed easily and were aimed at fans of the characters. The closure comes less than a year after its release, as Hypnosis Mic officially launched on November 20, 2024. This confirms that it has failed to succeed or find its audience. It doesn’t appear that an offline version is on the way, but new gachas will still be released until the closure date.

Additionally, Lumina Prognosis will close on September 24 after launching on May 14, 2024; Lost Animal Planet will close on September 25 after its original launch on July 31, 2023; and Shiny Girl will close on September 30 after a recent launch on January 15, 2025.
