Hollow Cocoon will have a physical version in Japan

Hollow Cocoon Nintendo Switch version

Lucas Games, a publisher that has released physical versions of games like Shadow Corridor 2 and Aooni in Japan, giving users the opportunity to own great physical games at a great price, has announced the release of Hollow Cocoon for Nintendo Switch. It will be available in Japanese stores starting November 27th under the full title Utsuromayu – Hollow Cocoon – Special Edition and will be priced at 3,300 yen for the standard version. A limited deluxe edition will also be available for 6,380 yen, which includes the following content:

  • 16-page color book with valuable game information about its setting, development, and story.
  • CD with the full soundtrack, including the ending song “Mayugamori.”
  • Special keychain recreating the 10-yen UFO game will make players feel like they’re back in the Showa era of the 1980s. Not only does it replicate the design, but the ball inside can move.

Previously available digitally, Hollow Cocoon is a horror game developed by Nayuta Studio and Register set in 1980s Japan. The protagonist, Jinba Minato, discovers that his grandmother is about to die, so he moves to Ichinose Village to see her. There, he is attacked by a terrifying monster, marking the beginning of an adventure in which the protagonist must solve the village’s mysteries. As the player progresses, they discover the mysteries hidden in this place, which is more terrifying than they could imagine.

One of the most interesting aspects of Hollow Cocoon is that the player’s decisions influence the story’s development, which can lead to up to four different endings. There are also three difficulty levels and automatic saves. For more sensitive users, the option to disable camera shake has been included to avoid discomfort while playing.

This physical version is available in Japanese, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Korean, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. It’s also compatible with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The game will be present in the next Tokyo Game Show 2025 which will take place between September 25 and 28 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
