Starting today, a collaborative initiative between Sega, Tokyo Metro, and Palan is underway in Japan to bring Sonic to a whole new level. The Sonic AR Fortune Telling event will be held at Kōrakuen Station from March 17 to 31, 2025.
Fans can download the Tokyo Metro My App, open the AR camera, and, in the station, take a photo of the Sonic AR poster. At that moment, the hedgehog and his friends will appear on screen, delivering a message to celebrate users’ “new lives”. It’s worth remembering that March is a very important month in Japan, as the school year has just ended, and those who have moved from junior high to high school or higher education already know what their next challenge will be.
Therefore, Sega wants Sonic to cheer everyone up with the messages they’ve prepared. Furthermore, users can take the photo multiple times to see more and more messages. Sometimes Sonic will appear, and other times, other characters from the franchise will pop-up.
Additionally, since last Saturday, a food truck dedicated to Sonic can be found in Tokyo Dome City. The special Sonic menu will also be available until March 31st. And everyone who purchases something from the food truck will receive a random original coaster from among five different models. As an additional promotion, starting today, march 17th, people who show that they have posted their AR message on Kōrakuen Station on social media will receive two additional gifts: a clear file and a coloring book. The clear file is from the game Sonic x Shadow Generations, while the coloring book is from the movie Sonic 3.
The Sony food truck menu includes a Sonic Chili Dog for 900 yen, a Sonic Blue Jelly Soda for 800 yen, and a Shadow’s Peach Strawberry drink for 800 yen.
