Released on July 18, Cat Girl Survivor from Minimum Studio will receive a first DLC launching at the end of September. Following in the footsteps of Vampire Survivors and featuring the work of famous Japanese seiyus, this game offers bullet-filled gameplay that blends fast reflexes, tactical skill choices, and roguelike replayability. Its first DLC, launching at the end of September, adds new content, including New Game+ modes, as well as a 5-stage, and full-episode voiceover expansion. With a roster of distinctive cat-eared heroes, the game combines challenging combat, strategic depth, and a cast full of personality.
DLC Plans and Update
- Free DLC Content: New Game+ Mode: A New Game+ system will be added, allowing multiple playthroughs with continued progression. Also, an OST by Yui Ogura and a music video of the adorable cat girl.
- Paid DLC Content: “Catgirl: New Episode Stage DLC”: This DLC includes 5 new stages and 5 new bosses. Each stage features episodes with newly recorded voice acting, providing full-voice content for the Cat Girl Survivor characters.
On August 10th, the game studio already released a major update that brought a comprehensive overhaul to the game with this changes:
- Updated Skill System: Combine level 3 skills to unlock new and legendary abilities.
- Combat improvements: Adjusted enemy speeds, redesigned mid-bosses, added fast monsters, and Golden Fish can be stored.
- Balance updates: Reduced boss attack and defense.
- UI/UX: New character unlock notifications and improved item designs.
- The magnetic item requested by players.
- Infinite Mode and Global Leaderboards: Battle other players for survival and reap huge rewards.
Diving into Cat Girl Survivor Gameplay
At its core, Cat Girl Survivor fuses the accessible loop of a Vampire Survivors-style arena with a more deliberate approach to character abilities, gear upgrades, and tactical decision-making. You’ll choose from a roster of distinct cat-eared heroes, gather an arsenal of equipment and skills mid-run, and fight to save a demon-threatened world—preferably without getting shredded by its relentless hordes.
Skill Casting System
A core feature of Cat Girl Survivor is its skill casting system. Each character wields unique casting skills that enhance their attacks, allowing for dynamic combat beyond regular shooting. Every skill comes with a trade-off—you cannot move your character while charging up its unique skill after fully utilizing it. In return, casting skills can grant you the ability to inflict wide-ranging and heavy damage to enemies. By strategically combining casting skills with standard abilities, players can create powerful combos and gain the edge needed to take down even the toughest demons.
A Roster With Personality
Beyond the starter character, Cat Girl Survivor packs a lineup of uniquely skilled heroes, from the agile Akane to the heavy-hitting Shiro and beyond. Each comes with their own playstyle quirks and mechanical advantages, encouraging experimentation until you find your ideal match.
And of course, the stars of the game with voiceover provided by top Japanese voice actors:
- Yuri (voiced over by Yui Ogura) – A young cat mage whose powers were taken by a curse. Warm-hearted and empathetic, she naturally takes the lead and encourages others to join her on her quest. Known for being steadfast, her nature is reflected in her high defense.
- Akane (voiced over by Kana Ueda) – A fiery, impulsive fighter who thrives on challenges and spicy food. Her boldness often gets her into trouble, and she pretends to be a cat to fit in with her companions. Worth mentioning that Akane loves food a lot…perhaps, so much that her passion for it gives her the ability to absorb distant orbs
- Koro (voiced over by Marie Miyake) – A centuries-old grand mage gifted with skill acceleration. She may look young but she carries the wisdom of ages. Cynical and cautious, she claims to join the adventure reluctantly… though she may enjoy it more than she admits.
- Shiro (voiced over by Sakura Chirin) – A child chosen as a light savior. Innocent, cheerful, and affectionate, Shiro harnesses waves of light. Though she is still learning to control her powers but brings positivity and curiosity wherever she goes.
- Chloe (voiced over by Nozomi Yamane) – A forest witch who lives quietly with her familiar, Kiki, who Chloe learns from to apply her skills. Reserved and socially awkward, she prefers calm surroundings and gentle moments.
- Leo (voiced over by Kenta Kiyosumi) – A genius exorcist cat. While he may be a coward at heart, he is incredibly fast on his feet. Protective of his younger sister, easily frightened, and endlessly curious, he loves reading ancient texts and sharing his knowledge—often in a monotone voice.
