Japanese users, or those who purchase the Japanese version through import, can now access the physical edition of Castlevania Anniversary Collection for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. The game is being released by Superdeluxe Games, which has become a regular partner of Limited Run Games in the Japanese market for years, making its games easier to access in all stores.
It arrives in Japan in two versions: a standard version for 4,980 yen and a Deluxe Edition priced at 8,980 yen. The standard version isn’t lacking in extra content, as it includes a special front and back jacket and a booklet with history notes on the games. The Deluxe Edition, meanwhile, includes some important extras, which we’ll discuss later.
What games are included in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection? The first eight installments of the Castlevania franchise are included:
- Castlevania – NES / Famicom
- Castlevania II Simon’s Quest – NES
- Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse – NES / Famicom
- Super Castlevania IV – Super NES / SFC
- Castlevania: The Adventure – Game Boy
- Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge – Game Boy
- Castlevania Bloodlines – Mega Drive
- Kid Dracula – Famicom
It’s important to mention that this edition of the game already includes the patch that came with the Japanese versions, so you can access all of the edition’s content without needing to download anything. However, it’s important to remember that Castlevania II Simon’s Quest was never released in Japan, so it’s only playable in English.
Castlevania Anniversary Collection Deluxe Edition includes the following content:
- Special box
- Trading Card
- Bonus Book
- Original Soundtrack (4 CD)
- 8 Art cards
Superdeluxe indicates that the Deluxe Edition is limited and will no longer be available once the units originally released today, June 26, are sold. Additionally, users who purchase any of the game’s editions from the SDX Store will receive a limited-edition Simon Belmont pin badge. It’s important to note that the SDX Store ships internationally, not just within Japan, although shipping costs will depend on the destination country. Additionally, some retailers are giving away a 7.5cm acrylic keychain or a smartphone digital wallpaper.
Additionally, a physical edition of Castlevania Advance Collection will be released in Japan on July 31, and Castlevania Dominus Collection will be released on September 18.
