Death Stranding 2: On the Beach hits stores on June 26th, and in Japan, they want to celebrate in style. Hideo Kojima himself has cooked up a special collaboration with none other than Domino’s Pizza, one of the leading pizza chains in Japan. And it’s a very coherent promotion, as Hideo Kojima has explained why he thinks it’s a great fit.
He announces the campaign with a special message that says the following:
I remember being fascinated by the characters in the American movies I watched as a child, ordering pizza for delivery and sitting on the sofa munching away. I was surprised and impressed at the time to see a whole round pizza delivered in a box. For this collaboration, I chose flavors to suit my tastes while recalling those memories. I hope it suits your taste. Please give it a try.
The collaboration with Domino’s Pizza will be available from June 30th to July 31st. Domino’s Pizza customers who purchase the special pack created for the occasion will be entered into a raffle for various luxury items, such as a Death Stranding 2: On the Beach DualSense controller signed by Hideo Kojima. An original T-shirt and jacket from the game will also be raffled off, many of which are exclusive edition merchandise not available for purchase. Here’s the full list of gifts. Pizzas recommended by Hideo Kojima
Kojima Productions has prepared a series of recommendations so you can enjoy the pizzas they love, just the personalized way they’ve come to adore their pizzas. They’ll also be available in various sizes and also in bento box form, which also includes fries. As a drink, Red Bull is recommended for an extra boost of energy and improved performance playing the game.
That said, let’s move on to the recommendations. One of them is the Giga Meat Pizza, for which Kojima recommends changing the crust to crispy and adding mayonnaise. Another option is the Charcoal Grilled Chicken Pizza, which also has a crispy crust, with the spinach removed and corn added. As a third option, they recommend the Garlic Master Pizza, which changes the crust to crispy and adds an extra dose of garlic. They also recommend the Spicy Pizza with crispy crust and mayonnaise. With these pizza flavors, Kojima Productions believes you’ll be able to enjoy “feeling guilty” and enjoying their game to the fullest. As you can see, although it’s not common in other countries, mayonnaise on pizza is something that the Japanese love.
