Square Enix announced today, September 1, 2025, that it plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Japanese release of Chrono Trigger in style. The game was originally released on March 11, 1995, in Japan, and to celebrate, Square Enix will hold an orchestral concert on two dates: January 17 and 18, 2026. The concert will be titled Chrono Trigger Orchestra Concert: Melodies that Transcend Time and will be held in Hall A of the Tokyo International Forum.
The concert will be conducted by Nicholas Bach, a renowned concert performer, who will lead the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. According to information released by Square Enix, it will be a full orchestral melody concert combined with famous scenes from the game. All seats will be numbered, and tickets will not be sold directly. Tickets will instead be entered into a ticket lottery in advance, which is now open for registration on the Square Enix e-Store. Applications for the lottery will close on September 17 at 11:59 PM Japan Time.
The lottery system is a classic one for highly sought-after Japanese events. The first step is to register for the lottery and then wait for the results. Only lottery winners will be able to purchase tickets to attend the concert. There will be two types of tickets: Seat S, priced at 11,000 yen, and Seat A, priced at 8,800 yen. Ticket issuance and shipping fees will also be required, although winning the lottery will likely be the least of the lucky winners’ worries.
The concerts will take place on January 17, 2026, at 6:00 PM, and on January 18, 2026, at 12:00 PM. You can find more information on the concert website.
