Its title may not be familiar to you yet, but The Perfect Prince could be one of the most beautiful and emotional adventure games that will release in 2026. For now, the latest news from its creators, the Japanese company Rococo Games, is that it has confirmed its presence at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, which will be held from September 25th to 28th in Chiba, at the Makuhari Messe.
The beauty of The Perfect Prince is that the entire game is presented as a fairy tale book, with the characteristic art style and pastel tones that represent children’s stories. It’s no surprise that it has a striking appearance, given that the game’s director and producer is Eiko Sawamura, an industry veteran who has worked on titles such as Valkyrie Profile 2 and Star Ocean 4.
As you can see in the images, the game has RPG elements, but maintains its storybook aesthetic throughout. Tokyo Game Show 2025 attendees will find the game in Hall 10-C09.
About The Perfect Prince
The Perfect Prince is an adventure game featuring a moving story and fairytale-like presentation. Players progress through puzzle solving and simple action, and the story branches depending on the choices and actions of the protagonist. This is Rococo Games debut title, and it was selected for the second phase of the “Soufu” game division, a creator support program sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The world of illustrated fairy tales
“You’ve wandered into a fairy tale world, where there’s a prince who looks just like you…” The prince, the main character of the story, is absent. You will take his place and guide the strange story. The watercolor-style visuals and charming characters add to the world of illustrated fairy tales.
The characters who weave the story together with their “bonds” are each assigned a role in the story. However, if you step outside the story, they have their own individual personalities. You will see a new side of them in the intermissions. Carve the “bonds” that are a symbol of trust between you and them into words.
Will you choose your own words or the words of others? A battle of words
Trials await the protagonist of this story. Based on the game of rock-paper-scissors, it’s a simple yet tense battle of words. If you lose, the other person’s plot will follow, so you can’t afford to lose. The fate of the story depends on your words.
