Another member of the K-pop group Twice takes the leap and “goes independent” with a debut solo that had been eagerly awaited by her fans. This time is Chaeyoung, one of the Twice members with the most inner world and the greatest connection to the world around her. Chaeyoung has always been a performer known for being true to herself and for reflecting her personality in her daily life, without pretense or filters. She now pours all that naturalness into her debut solo, for which the video for its debut title track, “Shoot (Firecracker)”, has been released.
The full title of the solo album is “Lil Fantasy Vol. 1”, and we have to admit that even the title fits with Chaeyoung’s overwhelming and charming personality, which she has been demonstrating for years in Twice. The first track reflects her personality; it has a disco feel, but above all, it highlights the jazzy nature of the music, something that always fits well with Chaeyoung. It’s commendable that she hasn’t let herself be swayed by industry trends and that, with this first solo album, she has sought to unleash her own identity.
This is also reflected in the 10 tracks on the solo album. The reason for this is that Chaeyoung had full say in making decisions and participated in both the lyrics and the sound composition of the songs. Something that can also be appreciated by listening to the 10 songs is that Chaeyoung’s style is chameleonic, while always maintaining her strong personality.
Before Chaeyoung, Nayeon, Jihyo, and Tzuyu had debuted individually, in that order, while Momo, Mina, and Sana formed the unit MiSaMo, which has also provided them with a very comfortable platform in which to unleash their talent. Now everyone is waiting for Jeongyeon’s solo debut, since she has one of the best voices in the group.
