Once again, Hideo Kojima and his team at Kojima Productions are dreaming big. The creator of Metal Gear Solid wants to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his company, Kojima Productions, in the best way imaginable. And, given his love for cinema, it’s no surprise that he’s chosen one of Japan’s best movie theaters to hold the celebration: the Toho Cinemas in Roppongi Hills. This event is called Beyond the Strand.
The event will be held in Toho Cinemas’s screen 7 on September 23rd at 13:00 Japan time. Hideo Kojima has likely already calculated that there will be a lot of international press in Japan on that date, as it will be the week in which all the parties and events leading up to the Tokyo Game Show take place, from September 25th to 28th. The event, which will take place at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, will once again bring together the best in the industry. But before that, it will be a chance to learn about the latest from Kojima Productions.
Tickets for the event will not be sold directly, but will be sold through a lottery. To participate in the lottery and win the right to purchase a ticket, you must go to the Lawson Ticket system. Tickets are priced at 7,700 yen. If you can’t attend and you’re a Hideo Kojima fan, you’ll be happy to know that the event will have its own live stream.
For now, the content of the celebration remains a mystery, but it has been revealed that, in addition to Kojima himself, there will also be special appearances. The goal, in addition to celebrating the anniversary, is to provide a glimpse into future projects.
